Independent land and property management specialist Bell Ingram has offices throughout the UK that help clients make the most of their assets. In addition to rural land management and estate agency, its Northwich office also provides professional services for pipeline, cable and telecommunications companies.

We chose Promap, because of the comprehensiveness and clarity of the Ordnance Survey information provided, which far exceeds that of other suppliers. The result is a more professional looking plan with great applicability for our clients. Promap is great value for money as it offers an instant service – essential in such a fast-paced industry.

The challenge

Establishing accurate, up-to-date ownership information is crucial when negotiating way leaves, leases, acquisitions and access agreements for major pipeline and utility projects, but traditional, historic mapping techniques have proved to be slow and costly.

The solution

Promap®, an online system offering property professionals instant, easy and reliable access to Ordnance Survey mapping, enables staff at Bell Ingram to view maps on screen, measure site access and highlight boundaries toestablish ownership of specific areas of land. Together with the relevant information, the maps are then printed for inclusion in valuation reports, lease agreements and sales brochures.

The maps’ clarity and completeness means that previously-unseen boundary lines are often displayed, giving developers, landowners and tenants alike a better understanding of their property and enabling the exact position of physical boundaries to be established quickly and easily.

Developed by the Landmark® Information Group, an Ordnance Survey Licensed Partner, Promap provides access to the most up-to-date Ordnance Survey data at a range of scales – including the highly-detailed OS MasterMap® Topography Layer and OS MasterMap Integrated Transport Network™ (ITN) Layer (which maps Great Britain’s road network) as well as OS VectorMap® Local, which allows users to create detailed backdrop maps that can be tailored to show specific features and information.

The benefits

  • Speed and accuracy – projects that previously took days to complete now take a matter of hours.
  • Confidence in the quality of the data provided for both Bell Ingram and its clients, as it is provided by Great Britain’s national mapping agency, Ordnance Survey.
  • Easy-to-use, cost-effective system that can be accessed by staff across the business.
