OSTN15 and OSGM15 for developers

We are pleased to make the OSTN15 transformation model and the OSGM15 geoid model available to developers for incorporation into their software. The developer's pack and Grid InQuestII software also contain the polynomial transformation model and OSGM15 geoid models for use in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The models can be incorporated in several ways (see links in the box):

(1) Use the raw dataset from the Developer's Pack, which includes the grid of transformation parameters, the procedures/equations to use, a worked example and some sample files for testing. Technical information is also included.

(2) NTv2 format files. NTv2 is popular with many GIS systems. The zip archive contains both text and binary NTv2 format files for OSTN15, sample files for testing and a user guide.

(3) The Grid InQuestII software application contains DLLs and tools to enable the use of OSTN15 and OSGM15 with other software and web applications.

(4) The source code for Grid InQuestII is available for re-use and modification.

Please read "A guide to coordinate systems in Great Britain" (see link in box) for important background information relating to OSTN15 and OSGM15.

This software is licensed pursuant to the terms of the BSD Licence.

OSTN15/OSGM15 replaced the previous models OSTN02/OSGM02 in August 2016. An article outlining the changes is here. The OSTN02/OSGM02 developers pack is here, the OSTN02 NTv2 file is here and the original OSTN02/OSGM02 Grid InQuest DLL is here.
