Licensed partners can obtain digital map data from Ordnance Survey for inclusion within their own products and/or services under the terms of the Framework Contract (Partners) (FCP).
The FCP is the umbrella agreement which outlines the commercial relationship between OS and the licensed partner. A number of Contracts (including the Planning, Design and Construction Contract) sit under the FCP and provide specific terms relating to the product(s)/service(s) being offered.
Below is a brief description of activities covered by the terms of the Planning, Design and Construction Contract. This is only a summary of the key points and therefore not exhaustive, so please refer to the Contract for full details. If you're a Licensed Partner already you can view this here.
This Contract covers electronic Products / Services supplied in connection with building projects. It is designed to be used for architectural, engineering and construction activities and is intended to be compatible with, and uses terms derived from, the RIBA plan of work 2013.
Conditions of use
Customers are permitted to use map files created using Licensed Data for the following uses: (1) internal project use (i.e. using the map files internally within their business in support of a building project); (2) external project use (i.e. making the map files available to third parties in furtherance of a building project); or (3) project sharing (i.e. sharing the map files with other parties working on the same building project as the customer).
Map files created using Licensed Data must be in the form of
3D map files created using (1) building data extracted from OS MasterMap Topography Layer, (2) OS Terrain® 5 and/or (3) OS MasterMap® Imagery Layer.
The term of the customer's licence may be determined by you but must not extend beyond the Handover and Close out stage of the project and shall not exceed 10 years.
You and your Customers shall:
- only use 3D Electronic Map Files for the purpose of providing a three-dimensional visualtion of the relevant project.
- not be permitted to reverse engineer any 3D Electronic Map Files.
Royalties are on a per order basis.
In respect of each order for 3D Electronic Map Files supplied to your Customers, you shall pay Royalties of £100.00 for the first km² of Licensed Data and £10 for each additional 10 hectares of Licensed Data supplied.
You may provide additional copies of a 3D Electronic Map File in different formats to the original 3D Electronic Map File supplied for no additional Royalty provided that the additional copies are supplied at the same time as the original 3D Electronic Map File.
The following OS products can be licensed under this contract:
- OS MasterMap® Topography Layer (including Simple Building Heights)
- OS MasterMap® Imagery Layer
- OS Terrain® 5
