Framework Contract (Partners) - User Derived Dataset Contract Summary

Please note that terms relating to the use of Land Registry Polygons have been removed from this contract and included in a new Land Registry Polygons Contract wef 1 October 2014. This contract can be entered into online.

Licensed partners can obtain digital map data from Ordnance Survey for inclusion within their own products and/or services and/or for onward distribution/resale under the terms of the Framework Contract (Partners) (FCP).

The FCP is the umbrella agreement which outlines the commercial relationship between Ordnance Survey and the licensed partner. A number of Contracts (including the User Derived Dataset Contract) sit under the FCP which provide specific terms related to the activity being conducted.

For your reference below is a brief description of activities covered specifically by the terms of the User Derived Dataset Contract. Please note the information below is a summary and therefore not exhaustive, you should always refer to the Contract for full details.

Under the User Derived Dataset Contract Ordnance Survey grants you a licence to create datasets utilising Ordnance Survey Data (in whole or in part) together with additional third party data. The additional data must be a fundamental component of the dataset created.

Examples of how you can use Ordnance Survey Data under the User Derived Dataset Contract are as follows:

  • to create a dataset comprising polygons which have 5% or less coincidence with our data, such as a sales territory
  • to create a dataset comprising points, such as nature reserves
  • to create a dataset comprising attribution extracted from our data, such as the size of a building.
  • to create output data obtained from interrogating the Licensed Data

You can only onward licence the derived dataset created to organisations as an electronic image or as a data format to be used within a geographical information system.

If you have any queries about this summary, please contact your account manager in the normal way.

The current version of the User Derived Dataset Contract can be viewed here.
