Viewing, Tracking & Scheduling Contract

This Overview highlights some of the key points from the contract; please refer to the Contract for full terms and conditions. Please contact our Customer Service Centre for further information.

This contract enables an end-user to view licensed data that is hosted remotely. It also enables licensed data made available as part of a hosted service or software package to be used for the purposes of tracking and/or scheduling. Tracking in this context means locating and/or monitoring the movements of a transponder. Scheduling means pre-planning the movements of an object and/or obtaining instructions on how to get to, or route to, a destination.

  • Viewing can be as an on demand service (a service hosted by the Partner) or as a software package and royalties are based on sessions only.
  • Tracking and scheduling can be an on demand service or a software product (for example, a DVD) and royalties are based on subscriptions and sessions.

Conditions of use

Partners are not permitted to digitise any features from the following datasets:

  • OS VectorMap Local Black and White Raster
  • OS VectorMap Local Colour Raster
  • OS VectorMap Local Colour Raster Backdrop
  • 1:25 000 Scale Colour Raster
  • 1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster
  • OS MasterMap Imagery Layer

Products and services may not be used as a navigation product.

For viewing, tracking and scheduling – session and subscription royalties, Partners must ensure that licensed data is inaccessible on expiry of a session or subscription period which is not immediately renewed.

For viewing, tracking and scheduling in an on demand service – session royalties:

  • Partners must ensure that the on demand service does not permit customers or their end-users to manipulate, edit or extract the licensed data (other than to manipulate colours within OS MasterMap Topography Layer and/or OS VectorMap Local) or to access any attribution except street names contained within OS MasterMap ITN Road Network and RRI and full postal addresses contained in any of the address datasets and street locality and/or postcode information used to identify the location of a feature within any of the address datasets that does not have a full postal address.
  • Customers are only able to access the licensed data remotely (except for caching) and are not able to store licensed data on any terminal.
  • Partners can store user generated content on behalf of their customers provided that it is only accessed by the Partner or the customer that created it.
  • Ensure that customers and/or end-users are not able to print licensed data unless they are licensed under the Printed Products Contract.
  • Under the view model the Partner can permit tracking.
  • A Standard View option allows you to display third party data provided that you make the data available to all end-users as part of that service and that additional data doesn’t relate to a customers business activity.
  • A Premium View option will allow an end user to create a View and to overlay their own business information on to such a View.

Tracking and scheduling – subscription royalties:

  • The subscription period must be agreed and signed up to prior to commencement of the period.
  • Partners must ensure that licensed data cannot be extracted except for the installation of the software package.
  • Where you do tracking and scheduling we will allow you to download the coordinates and you can supply the coordinates to your delivery people to plug into their navigation device. Paper copies can also be made detailing the scheduling itinerary for their day.

Pricing structure

Viewing

Royalties are based on sessions with the exception of Address products which are based on transactions.

OS MasterMap Topography Layer

  • Royalties are based on the area (in hectares) of settlement, rural and moorland geography viewed.
  • A premium royalty applies to the first hectare viewed within a session.
  • The areas of each type of geography viewed in each session must be rounded up to a whole number of hectares.

OS VectorMap Local, OS VectorMap Local Colour Raster, OS VectorMap Local Colour Raster - Backdrop and OS VectorMap Local Black and White Raster

  • Royalties are based on the number of km2 in the km2 matrix that are viewed in whole or in part. The km2 matrix is the geographic matrix relating to OS MasterMap Topography Layer that we make available.
  • A premium royalty applies to the first km2 viewed within a session.
  • The area viewed in each session must be rounded up to a whole number of km2.

1: 25 000 Scale Colour Raster and OS MasterMap Imagery Layer

  • Royalties for these products are based on the geographical area viewed in km2.
  • A premium royalty applies to the first km2 viewed within a session.
  • The area viewed in each session must be rounded up to a whole number of km2.

1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster, Code-Point products, Land-Form PROFILE products, OS MasterMap Integrated Transport Network™ Layer – Road Network and Road Routing Information

Royalties for these products are independent of the geographical area viewed.

ADDRESS-POINT, OS MasterMap Address Layer, OS MasterMap Address Layer 2, AddressBase, AddressBase plus and AddressBase Premium

Royalties for these address products are transactional.

Tracking and scheduling
  • For hosted services provided on a session basis, the royalties are based on the principles outlined for viewing. The only exception to this is that OS MasterMap Topography Layer may not be licensed for use in tracking and scheduling applications.
  • Hosted services and software packages may be licensed on the basis of monthly or annual subscriptions. In the case of tracking, the royalty is based on the number of transponders tracked. For scheduling, the royalty is based on the number of objects scheduled, where an object can be an asset (including an asset connected to a transponder) or a person.
  • Royal Mail royalties applicable to the use of ADDRESS-POINT, OS MasterMap Address Layer, OS MasterMap Address Layer 2, Addressbase, AddressBase Plus and AddressBase Premium in subscription based services may be determined on a transactional basis. Alternatively an annual royalty may be paid, based on the number of end-user terminals with access to each dataset.
