UKBuildings from The GeoInformation Group provides a unique and accurate profile of residential and non-residential building stock classified by age and type across the UK.
The residential database covers major urban areas in excess of 10,000 population and includes information on 14.3 million addresses, covering 60-75% of the UK’s population. Residential property age classes range from pre-Georgian through to modern day and structural types span tall flats through to terraces and large detached houses.
The non-residential classification is much more complex and attempts to categorise this diverse range of buildings by construction type and age from churches to modern office blocks, schools and hospitals to industrial estates and age types span pre-World War One to recent. The UKBuildings database has been used by organisations from local and regional government through to utilities and insurance companies. The applications include urban planning, illegal development, gas and water leakage predication, insurance valuations and property development.
