OS Insight Detailed Path Network Beta data is now available

Ordnance Survey will be releasing sample beta data for The Detailed Path Network for sample areas of The Peak District National Park in July and August 2014. The beta sample data follows the alpha data which was released last year for Dartmoor National Park and will be available to download by OS Insight™ members to provide feedback on the content and structure.

The Detailed Path Network is a routable path and track network aimed at the leisure market. The product is designed to provide a network for pedestrians, cycles and horses that facilitates;

  • Advanced route planning – pre journey,
  • Live Route planning – during the journey
  • Turn by turn instructions.

DPN will enable ‘active routing’ and navigation to users via web and mobile devices.

The feedback we received from the Alpha data has formed the shaping of the Beta product. The Detailed Path Network beta product has been refined to provide greater clarity on the usability, difficulty and accessibility of a route.

Subject to a successful OS Insight™ campaign and Board approval, we would look to release a product in 2014 -2015.
