1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster is a must-have map in any navigation app or device for walkers and cyclists. It depicts the landscape with superb detail and clarity.

For local planners, this map helps you spot brownfield sites ripe for development, and analyse the quality of local transport links. Railways and important roads are clearly colour-coded.

1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster helps emergency control centre staff respond more effectively to calls. With landmarks shown clearly on the map, they can ask distressed callers if they can see the local pub or church, to pinpoint incident locations quickly.

1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster support ›

How is this data supplied and what do I need to use it?

1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster is available either by download or on DVD.

You'll need geographic information system (GIS) software to use it for spatial analysis. To work with the map tiles as images for use in posters or magazines, open them in Photoshop, InDesign or similar.

Can I define my own area

You can order 1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster by user-defined areas:

  • Specific tile identities;
  • administrative region; or
  • bounding box.

It's also available covering:

  • Great Britain
  • England
  • Scotland
  • Wales

Tiles are, however, supplied whole rather than being clipped to fit geographic areas.

My 1:50 000 Scale Colour Rasterdata isn't displaying correctly in my GIS. What's wrong?

Have you installed geo-referencing files in your GIS as well as the data? This is an early trouble-shooting step you should take.

Geo-referencing files contain the National Grid corner coordinates for each tile. They let you display tiles of raster map data in their correct geographical position when loaded into a geographical information system (GIS). Along with sea tiles, which complete sea areas at each zoom level, you can download them free from our website.
