On 5th May, Ordnance Survey supported the recent Scottish QGIS User Group. This is the third QGIS event to happen in recent years, championed by Ross McDonald at Angus Council, which focuses on bringing together people with a shared interest and passion for QGIS and other open source software for Geo.
These events have gone from strength to strength, with over 70 attendees attending at the latest user group from across all sectors in Scotland. Ordnance Survey hosted two workshop sessions on the day – one using Mapbox Studio and another on PostGIS, both using OS OpenData products.
There was also a diverse range of speakers from across government, academia and commercial suppliers, all giving fascinating presentations and demonstrations on what can be achieved using open source software.
Ross is planning another user group soon and is always looking for speakers to showcase their work or projects using open source solutions, so please get in touch if you would like to support the event.
