Possible bug: markers with web-links don't work on mobile

It seems that map markers which should trigger links don't work on mobile devices. Or at least on Android (I've tried two different browsers on my own Moto G as well as the browser in an emulator I use for app development.

    On a "normal" computer:
    * go to http://www.suffolkcamra.co.uk/pubs/place/53
    * click on the "Map" tab
    * Click on any of the markers on the map.

The browser opens the page relevant to that pub.

Now do the same thing on the browser on an android device and nothing happens when you click on the marker.

My first thought was that I'd screwed something up in my design (I actually discovered this when doing a redesign and hadn't realised that the original site was also not working). However, I think this is a bug in the Openspace code, since if you go to the code playground at http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/business-and-government/help-and-support/web-services/code-playground.html then click "linking a marker to a website", the same problem manifests itself.

I only have limited devices to test this on, but I get the same problem with my ancient Nokia N900, so evidently it's not just Android devices.

Could it be a general problem with touchscreen devices? Perhaps the event triggered by a tap on one of these is subtly different to a click on a desktop an the Openspace code isn't catching it?

      Hi Tony,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention - I will forward it to the relevant team to have a look into and will let you know of the outcome.

      Kind regards,

        Hi team,

Any progress on this? Since at least a third of visitors to my site are using mobiles, I'd really love to be able to stop transferring them to Google maps so they can actually tap on my icons to go to the pubs on my maps.

Evidently not something that's going to be fixed, then?

Hello Tony, I was just passing your post and while I can see the map, if I click the marker nothing happens. By this I mean I get the map up for a pub, go to map and clock the icon on the map for the pub. Just thought I'd help - running up to date Samsung S5.

            Cheers, Chris

Update: Ahh, I actually followed your instructions this time and you're right, clicking one of the markers on the map including all pubs, does not work.

I was attempting to demonstrate the beauty of my OS page at www.aplaceonthemap.com/OS/bh.php to someone with an i-pad. It didn't matter how she rubbed/thumped the markers - nothing happened. I haven't investigated - the page doesn't get much use, but I notice that (for example) in May I have the following not found - 404 - URLs :-

              /apple-touch-icon.png 200
              /apple-touch-icon-152x152.png 199
              /apple-touch-icon-152x152-precomposed.png 199
              /apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png 198

              These mean nothing to me.
The web page was not written with tablets or smart phones in mind, but does this suggest a similar problem?
