Dalby Forest Yorkshire
Delamere Forest Cheshire
Cannock Chase Staffordshire
Sherwood Pines Nottinghamshire
Hamsterley Forest County Durham
Thetford, Norfolk
Top Lodge Fineshade Wood, Northamptonshire
Whinlatter Forest, Cumbria

Orienteering events

Orienteering is a race to get to a set of points marked on a map in the quickest possible time - we've published a beginner's guide in the past.

Most orienteering events welcome beginners; maps are supplied and you can often borrow a compass if you need one. There are usually at least a few experienced people on hand to help, and easy courses are short enough to be suitable even for younger children.

There are loads of orienteering events happening over National Map Reading Week - use the button on the right to search for one near you. The icons next to each event show who it's suitable for.
