Cartographic stylesheets

A cartographic style is the visual representation of geographic data. It is the culmination of a set of rules, applied to data that is rendered as an image.

A cartographic stylesheet is the file that stores these rules. They can take many forms depending on the data, the software and the needs or preferences of the user.
