A Route is a named entity representing a set of RouteLink features that form a way to get from a starting point to a destination. A unique identifier assigned to a Route -- NOTE -- Not a TOID in this iteration of the product. Version number assigned to uniquely identify and manage change. The versionID is used to distinguish between different revisions of a feature and within the set of all revisions, the versionID is unique. -- Note -- For the first release this will be set to 1. For future release incrementing numbers for each epoch is acceptable until full versioning is required. The date on which the version was created. -- Note -- For future releases the date on which the instance was created is acceptable until full versioning is required. The primary classification attribute of a feature. For Detailed Path Network features this value shall always be set to "Non Motorised Vehicular Route Network" Further classification indicating the type of Route. For example: National Cycle Network, National Trail, Core Path... A proper name assigned to identify to the Route. If the proper name is defined in multiple languages then each name shall be provided with an associated language qualifier. If the proper name is only defined in one language then no language qualifier will be provided. Reference to the member RouteLink features that comprise the Route. A RouteLink is a linear element within a route that can be used by non-motorised vehicular traffic (i.e. pedestrians, cyclists or horses being ridden). A segment that represents part of a route that can be used by pedestrians and may be used by cyclists or horses being ridden. A unique identifier for a RouteLink. -- NOTE -- Not a TOID in this iteration of the product. Indicates the node at the start of the RouteLink in terms of the direction of capture. Indicates the node at the end of the link in terms of the direction of capture. The primary classification attribute of a feature. For Detailed Path Network features this value shall always be set to "Non Motorised Vehicular Route Network" Further classification indicating the type way that the RouteLink alignment is along or alongside. For example: If part of a route for pedestrians is comprised of a RouteLink feature for a road then the actual route may be along a pavement (if present), a verge or the carriageway itself. Whereas the same RouteLink if used for a road cycle route is likely to be only the carriageway itself. Type of material used to protect the surface of the way. Relative vertical position of the RouteLink in relation to the ground surface. Official number assigned to identify the road by the Department for Transport (DfT). For example: A3(M) A proper name assigned to identify to the RouteLink. If the proper name is defined in multiple languages then each name shall be provided with an associated language qualifier. If the proper name is only defined in one language then no language qualifier will be provided. If the RouteLink has been assigned multiple names then the alternativeName shall define the other proper name used to identify the RouteLink. NOTE: The name shall represent an official name, whereas the alternativeName may represent a colloquial name. Classification of the designated rights of access and use assigned to the RouteLink. These may be: legally designated rights such as Public Rights of Way or may be public rights of access across private lands allowed by the Landowner (e.g. Permissive Paths). Indicates whether the link is part of the National Cycle Network. Indicates whether the link is part of a recognised recreational route. Indicates whether the link is part of a cycle route an element of the National Cycle Network. Indicates whether the link falls within an area of Access Land defined under the Countryside and Rights of Way act of 2001. NOTE: this applies in England and Wales only. In Scotland the value is currently always set to false. Indicates whether the RouteLink intersects a designated Danger Area. NOTE: A Danger Area is currently limited to Ministry of Defence firing range. NOTE: The public may have access to these Danger Areas except when they are in use. Therefore, when wishing to use these areas, warning signals (red flags by day and red lamps at night) must be heeded and firing times should be checked. Indication that the RouteLink passes through an area that may pose a risk or impediment to passage. For example, the RouteLink is in close proximity to a cliff or the RouteLink passes through an area of scree or shingle which may be difficult or dangerous to traverse Vertical gain is an important value used in quantifying the strenuousness of a trip. It defines the total increase or decrease in height experienced when passing along the route against or with the direction of capture of geometry. -- Note -- [1]Calculated from the data held in Ordnance Survey Terrain Store. [2] In metres to 1 decimal place. [3] Value can be +/- Measurement of the length of the RouteLink along a planar surface. NOTE: Length shall be expressed in metres to 1 decimal place. Measurement of the length of the RouteLink in along a 3-dimensional surface. NOTE: Length shall be expressed in metres to 1 decimal place. Linear three-dimensional geometry representing the approximate centreline of the RouteLink. NOTE: The minimum length of a RouteLink shall be 1m. A feature at the end of one or more RouteLink features that indicates either:

the junction of three or more links,

a change in the attribution resulting in the creation of two RouteLink features,

indicating either the start or end of a RouteLink feature.

A unique identifier for a RouteNode. -- NOTE -- Not a TOID in this iteration of the product. Version number assigned to uniquely identify and manage change. The versionID is used to distinguish between different revisiosn of a feature and within the set of all revisions, the versionID is unique. For Detailed Path Network features this value shall always be set to "Non Motorised Vehicular Route Network" Further classification indicating the type of RouteNode. The position of the node. NOTE: the position shall be expressed as three-dimensional coordinates. Total increase in height experienced when passing along the route in the direction of capture of geometry. Total increase in height experienced when passing along the route against the direction of capture of geometry.
