This Freedom of Information request concerns the changes to property name.

Thank you for your email of 23 June 16, requesting the following information from Ordnance Survey in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000:

It has been brought to my attention that the Ordnance Survey map of my local area, Ludlow is still calling our house XXXXXXXXXX XXXXX farm. We live at this address and it has not been a farm for longer than thirty years. Please could you amend your details so that future issues would call the property XXXXXXXXXX Manor.

Our response

We have reviewed your email in accordance with the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 and do not consider it to be a specific request for information in accordance with section 8 of the FOIA.

Section 8 of the FOIA makes provision for the disclosure of information which is held in a recorded format by an organisation. We interpret your email as a request for us to amend our mapping and therefore consider that it does not constitute a valid request under Section 8 of the FOIA and we will not be complying with your request.

However, under our duty to provide advice and assistance as stipulated in Section 16 of the FOIA, I advise that I have forwarded your request to our Customer Service Centre who will pass it on to the relevant team. Internal review

Your enquiry has been processed according to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000. If you are unhappy with our response, you may request an internal review with our FOI Internal Review Officer, by contacting them as follows:

  • Failed to respond to your request within the time limits (normally 20 working days)
  • Failed to tell you whether or not we hold the information
  • Failed to provide the information you have requested
  • Failed to explain the reasons for refusing a request
  • Failed to correctly apply an exemption or exception

The FOI Internal Review Officer will not have been involved in the original decision. They will conduct an independent internal review and will inform you of the outcome of the review normally within 20 working days, but exceptionally within 40 working days, in line with the Information Commissioner’s guidance.

The FOI Internal Review Officer will either: uphold the original decision, provide an additional explanation of the exemption/s applied or release further information, if it is considered appropriate to do so.
