Information request

We received your request on 30 March 2026.

We have handled your request under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004.

We are writing to request information under the FOI Act 2000 and the EIR 2004.

Given the material financial impact of energy price volatility on public bodies in recent years, there is clear public interest in understanding the level of exposure to future energy costs across organisations funded directly or indirectly by taxpayers, and how potential cost risk is being managed ahead of Winter 2026.

Request: As of 23rd March 2026, for the period Winter 2026 (1-Oct-26 to 31-Mar-27), what approximate percentage (%) of your organisation’s expected energy consumption remains unsecured / exposed to market pricing, please confirm:

  • Organisation Name: -
  • Electricity %: -
  • Gas %: -

Advice and Assistance

Under the duty to provide advice and assistance (Regulation 9) of the EIR, we can provide the following information which may assist you in this matter.

Both electricity and gas for the Ordnance Survey head office (Explorer House) and the London office (Geovation Hub, electricity only) are sourced through the Crown Commercial Service framework. This framework uses a combination of aggregated buying across public sector sites and forward purchasing to reduce exposure to short-term market shocks.
