OS Maps app won again

The Great Outdoors Awards are the UK’s biggest democratic celebration of the outdoors, and has been running for 12 years.

This year’s awards featured 15 different categories, all of which were voted for by the public.

Describing OS’s win, TGO magazine wrote: “Claiming the top spot for the seventh year in a row, the OS Maps app must be running out of space in its trophy cabinet. The navigation app from Ordnance Survey secured a whopping 45 percent of the public vote – a convincing victory for ‘The OG,’ in one voter’s words – and received high praise from many readers. One put it plainly: “OS do it right.”

Nick Giles OBE, Ordnance Survey’s MD for Leisure, said: “We’re incredibly proud to win this award for the seventh year in a row.

“This is a fantastic achievement especially as it’s voted for by customers and TGO readers. This award means a huge amount to OS, especially the hard-working team behind the scenes at OS who keep OS Maps relevant and ensure that it is the best it can be to aid walkers on their outdoor adventures.

“We never rest on our laurels though. We are about to unveil a series of improvements to OS Maps app to make it even better for 2024.

“A huge thank you to the TGO readers’ who voted – it means a lot to us.”
