OS' open data offering is fantastic, but some obvious basic stuff is missing and would take nothing to offer alongside the other products.

E.g. for some PhD research work I am doing these days I need a specification of the 2.5km x 2.5km national grid tiles (e.g. "TQ37ne") in Shapefile format. This was once available perhaps as the 1:10,000 raster tiles product, now retired.

Of course I could calculate the same by myself from the specifications, but I'd rather trust OS to publish the same.

Am I missing something? Perhaps the data is available as part of one of the other product? Any feedback would be very welcome.

    G.

Hi Giofranco - I've created raster indices (shape files) covering all raster tile sizes (10k,25k,50,250k), happy to send them on if you like.

That would be great if you were keen to distribute the code you used to generate the shapefiles, so that I could assure quality and provenance. Am I asking too much? :-) What about a nice GitHub repository somewhere for everybody to enjoy? Thanks!

Ah, nothing as grand as a coded solution, I'm afraid... I'm a data monkey, not a developer :-)
I process full GB coverage data - so I just used the Tile Index tool in QGIS

            Hi Neil
I realise this post is nearly 2 years old - but I'm looking for 500M grids - do you have those I wonder?
            Thanks in advance
            John

Dread to think how many tiles that would create, John! Sorry - it's beyond me.

No worries, many thanks Neil, John
