Information request

We received your request on 10 January 2024.

We have handled your request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.

A copy of your request is set out in the extract below:

“I am interested in the history of a footpath that is present on the 1971 OS 1 inch map series but is no longer present on the modern OS map. The track traverses across the Pirbright Common danger area to east of Deepcut and used to starts at approximately SU915579 and ends at a place labeled Furze Farm. I've attached a screengrab of the area from the 1971 one inch to the mile series (Sheet 169 - Aldershot - B Edition). I am interested in any records you hold about the removal of this footpath (especially any correspondence on it's removal) and also the last map that it appears on.”

Our response

I confirm that Ordnance Survey does not hold the information you have requested as it does not hold records regarding the removal of the footpath or when the footpath was last shown on 1:50,000 mapping.
