Our role

OS provides leadership on national and international standards including support for the development of international standards in API development, further strengthening the OS Data Hub.

​​​​Together we are committed to improving the quality, findability, accessibility, interoperability, and re-use of geospatial data, and advocating open geospatial data standards for the benefit of everyone. Our standards plan is delivered as part of the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement (PSGA) – OS’s commitment to provide location data and expertise to the public sector across Great Britain.

Allan Jamieson

Data Standards Lead

Allan is the current chair of the BSI Geographic Information Standards Committee. In this role, Allan coordinates standards development across the UK and acts as the head of delegation at the ISO/Technical Committee 211 two working weeks per year. Allan also represents the UK on several of the international working groups. Allan leads our engagement with the OGC.

Peter Parslow

Open Standards Lead

As chair of the international committee, ISO/TC 211, Peter coordinates geographic data standards development globally and represents ISO/TC 211 at international meetings with the UN-GGIM. He also fosters relations with other international standards bodies such as the OGC and the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO).

Iza Hurst

Data Standards Manager

Iza is a member of BSI IST/36 standards committee on Geographic information (GI) and of BSI EPL/278 standards committee on Intelligent transport systems (ITS) in the UK. Iza also represents BSI at ISO/TC 211/JWG11 international joint working group on GIS-ITS. Iza’s interest is in geographic, transport and metadata standards.
