Cadcorp is a British software development company focused on Geographic Information System and web mapping software. It offers a complete suite of products, addressing all phases of spatial information management.

Cadcorp’s flagship suite of products, Cadcorp Spatial Information System® (SIS), addresses all phases of spatial information management and is available worldwide through a network of Cadcorp partners and through direct sales in the UK and Ireland. Since 1995, Cadcorp has been helping organisations maximise their return on investment in geographic information by making it easier to share and distribute spatial data between people and between systems. This is achieved by developing geospatial products that incorporate open and standards-based technologies.

The Cadcorp SIS® product family includes applications for desktop and web environments together with comprehensive tools for GIS developers and systems integrators. Cadcorp has supported Ordnance Survey data for almost 30 years, as part of the Cadcorp SIS core product portfolio. Wherever possible this data is read out-of-the-box, without translation, or pre-processing and national datasets are displayed instantly.

How they can help you

Cadcorp develops GIS and web mapping products that incorporate open and standards-based technologies that have a high level of versatility. Cadcorp SIS products are available for all phases of spatial data management from creation, through to application development, deployment and data distribution.

Cadcorp aims to support all of the wide variety of Ordnance Survey data products, in all of the wide variety of data supply formats, in as simple and effective a way as possible. Solutions include:

  • Providing sophisticated products to analyse, manipulate, display and use Ordnance Survey data. This includes multi-user and multi-vendor data support through an OGC® compliant web map server, and associated applications.
  • Geocoding, using up-to-date property and street databases in Cadcorp SIS. This enables searching based on Unique Property Reference Numbers and Unique Street Reference Numbers. These search local databases, built using data downloaded from the OS Data Hub Downloads API. Updated databases are issued every month and Cadcorp users can download these for the most up-to-date searches. Customers can geocode place names and locations directly against the OS Data Hub Names API, as well as add their own new postcode units, or edit the locations of existing units, in order to keep up with local changes.

Cadcorp specialises in the development of complex geospatial software. End users include national and local governments, government agencies, emergency services, port authorities, and housing associations, amongst others, both in our home market of the UK and as far afield as Australia, Japan, and North America.

Cadcorp SIS is suitable for all sizes of organisations. Investment level can vary as Cadcorp offers a wide range of software and services, ranging from a free desktop GIS viewer, to an enterprise-wide GIS and Web Mapping system.

GIS and business analytics are a powerful tool to understand public health services, and provide insight into the distribution of resources. From routing analysis for facilitating emergency response and patient travel, to combining population and demographic data to identify service gaps, Cadcorp has worked with Ordnance Survey data to create solutions that allow public sector organisations such as hospital trusts to improve their services and optimise operations.

As another example Cadcorp also supported Basildon Council’s weed control programme, which was tackling a complex land ownership landscape leading to huge time investment to classify and define all the plots of land throughout the borough. By creating a definitive layer of land ownership, Cadcorp solutions enabled the council to conduct efficient and proactive weed control, and established a system that can be applied for similar local projects.

"Cadcorp knew what was needed. I was very happy with the outcome. The engagement was good and I liked that everything was checked and proofed as we went along....Undertaking this proactive set of works will in the long run lead to happier residents and happier elected members."
Street Scene Maintenance Officer, Basildon Borough Council
